I would love to have a love affair with meditation. A deep and satisfying connection. It hasn’t happened yet though. Saying that, I’ve not tried too hard with it either.
I am completely convinced meditation is good for you. There’s plenty of research to prove it and it’s been around far longer than the two minutes I can just manage to sit still for.
A daily meditation practice has been shown, amongst other things, to lower anxiety, improve sleep, reduce depression and lower the risk of major health issues such as heart attack and stroke due to the lowering of stress levels.
On a less esoteric level though, meditation is a godsend to a busy mum who just wants to descend into a few moments of peace and stillness.
So, I’ve signed up for the latest 21 Day Meditation Challenge from Deepak Chopra. I’ve tried his guided meditations before – they’re easy to do and sent straight to your inbox. This challenge is due to start tomorrow Australian time, but you can sign on at any stage over the 21 days. It’s free, so a perfect chance to try a few minutes a day for some calmness and peace.
I’ll be putting out the Do Not Disturb sign on the door – I’m disturbed enough already!
